The 1% Solution logo

GIVING BACK TO OUR COMMUNITY: we're part of the 1% solution.

We recognize not all people or organizations can afford the services of an architect. Every year we pledge our assistance to those in our community who could benefit from our work at a reduced fee or pro bono, as the situation demands. Please contact us if you have a project that you would like us to consider taking on.

APPROACH
While solving programmatic and functional requirements is fundamental to the design process, I strive to transcend the basics by creating design that is both experiential and sensory. By using space, light, color, detail and material, I craft designs that provide a rich and layered experience, appropriate for the time, the place, and the particular client.

EXPERIENCE
In the last decade, I've worked in offices large and small and taught at two Universities. I am a licensed Architect in the State of Washington and a holder of the NCARB (National Council of Architectural Registration Boards) certificate, which signifies that I have met the profession's most objective standards of competence.

Please feel free to CONTACT ME by phone or email if you'd like to discuss your project.

The New American Farmhouse lcoated in Apex North Carolina

FEATURED 'GREEN' PROJECT: The New American Farmhouse in Apex, North Carolina

This home uses an extremely efficient ground source heat pump to provide heating and cooling for the home. The system circulates fluid through pipes buried in the ground at a depth where the earth's temperature is a constant 50 degrees year round. In the winter, heat is extracted from the earth and used to heat both the home and domestic hot water. In the summer time, the process is reversed to air condition the home, except instead of expelling the excess heat from inside the home to the earth, the excess heat is expelled into the domestic hot water tanks (which essentially gives you free hot water when the air conditioning is running). Also, an environmental/energy consultant was used for this project. Environments for Living™ makes recommendations during the planning stage of the project to help increase the energy efficiency of the design and comfort of the home.
