MARTIN BRATTRUD FURNITURE DESIGN COMPETITION The SOFA [asymmetric] combines the practicality of a sofa with the elegant lines of a 'chaise longue' (chaise lounge). The integration of an end table and the shifting of the backrest exaggerate the length of its seating surface. The design of
the SOFA [asymmetric] provides the opportunity for different seating positions
on a single piece of furniture. On one side, a padded armrest allows for
a more relaxed position. On the other side, an integrated table allows
for access to reading material, or a surface to place a beverage. Inset
in the table could be brushed aluminum strips (as shown) or another material
(stone, glass, etc.) that relates to the context in which the sofa is
placed.
