LAKE WASHINGTON RESIDENCE This substantial waterfront residence is located on Lake Washington in the Washington Park neighborhood of Seattle. The owners requested a new home that blends in with the older homes in the established neighborhood of Washington Park. The home is a blend of formal and informal detailing that results in a 'dressed up' casual design that fits the owner's lifestyle, but still fits into the formality of the stately neighboring homes. One of the main challenges in designing this home was connecting the main and lower levels to the landscape. By terracing the rear yard and constructing a large patio over the lower level, both levels of the home connect to the garden and have views of the Lake. In the front yard, a special library 'garden room' opens up to a garden courtyard and small one bedroom guest suite is tucked into the roof above the garage. Three-dimensional computer modeling was extensively
used to design the home's interior and exterior. |
