This three week project began with examining constructivism
and its strong ties to architecture [space,
material, movement, etc.].
Constructivism also has a strong relationship to the theoretical basis
of a studio: before this period, art was primarily reproductive, but
constructivism, with its attempts to use new materials and forms, and
explore space, time and movement, became more “creative”.
Through a series of conceptual models that explored spatial conditions,
connections, and materials, the students designed a small space in the
landscape to specifically display their chosen piece of sculpture.
