An early 80’s condo is transformed into a great place to entertain.

What attracted the current owner to this condo was the generously sized combined living and dining room on the west side of the unit, and a large master bedroom on the east side. Both of these spaces also have vaulted ceilings which helps create the illusion of a larger space. The unit did suffer from several problems including a dark, disconnected kitchen, dated finishes throughout, and poorly laid out bathrooms and closets.

The design started with some alterations to the floor plan. Large openings were created from the kitchen to the hallway and dining area to help connect the remodeled kitchen to the rest of the unit. Toward the master suite, the hallway was reconfigured to turn an awkward jog in the hall into a vestibule for the master suite. This space becomes a special place to hang art work and also helps make the master bedroom feel more separate and private from the rest of the unit. In the living room, new lighting was added and the fireplace design was completely reworked with glass tile and a mantle that extends to become a bar surface between the dining room and kitchen. The reworking of the kitchen resulted in appliances moving around to create a much more open, light, and airy space perfect for entertaining.
