After renovating a 1906 Four Square home’s porch in Capitol Hill by adding period-appropriate details, rebuilt steps, and new trim and period appropriate lighting, we achieved a refined, historically respectful entryway that aligns with the homeowner’s high standards.
We renovated the porch of a 1906 Four Square home in Capitol Hill to enhance its historical appeal. The original porch had oversized round columns and lacked detail, with no railings to define the space. Our client, a plastic surgeon with a keen eye for precision, emphasized attention to detail down to fractions of an inch. We carefully selected trim sizes and added period-appropriate lighting fixtures to match the era of the house. Additionally, the front steps were rebuilt using concrete and stone, providing a more substantial and durable entryway. The result is a porch that complements the home’s original character and adds a sense of refinement and definition to the space, respecting both the house’s history and the client’s high standards for detail.
